About This Position

A successful candidate will join Avitide to lead the affinity resin development on programs conducted for our biopharma partner.  You will leverage your current experience of process development for the scouting, optimization and delivery of novel affinity purification resins. A key responsibility will be interfacing with our biopharma partners to facilitate adoption of the technology. Avitide seeks candidates who are highly self-motivated and can work in a collaborative fashion with other interdisciplinary team members in a fast-paced company that seeks to transform downstream bioprocessing.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Expertise in development of protein and biologics purification processes, particularly automated/high-throughput chromatographic screening using DOE methodologies is essential for this role
  • To be prepared for the wide diversity of programs Avitide undertakes you will need to be able to demonstrate strong hands-on ability, problem solving, and independent experimental design and execution
  • As a key technical resource for purification development you will need to be able to manage multiple parallel projects and display strong communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Purification method development and optimization using affinity capture and polish resins and membranes
  • Proactively engage ligand engineers and conjugation scientists within Avitide to quickly improve and develop affinity resins
  • Seek innovative technologies and introduce approaches to screen novel affinity resins.
  • Collaborate with downstream bioprocessing engineers at partner companies to streamline technology transfer and integration into their processes, including preparation of data and presentations for external partner review

Desirable Skills

  • Avitide integrates analytical support within purification development and hence experience with relevant assays (product purity impurity analysis, product release assays, stability assays) is advantageous.
  • Experience with BioSolve or another bioprocess cost modeling software
